What is the

Black Alumni Gala?

The Black Alumni Gala is a group of independent black professionals, who are graduates of University of Southern Mississippi, with a vision to bridge talents, minds, and ideas to build a network that provides support and resources, strengthening BLACK CURRENCY.

  • This collaboration has a unique PURPOSE with the main platform of a Gala to celebrate BLACK PROWESS through recognition amongst alumni and community advocates.

Purpose

The goal is to cultivate, create, collaborate and expand our businesses, skills, talents, and efforts amongst each other first and then share it with our communities and ultimately the WORLD. We all have one or more common goals, which are to be black and educated, graduates of USM, business owners, advocates of financial literacy, economic growth developers, directors, managers, doctors, lawyers, educators, ENTREPRENEURS, and the list goes on. And let’s not forget the many who desire to be in those positions, however lack the guidance, resources, and support.

We wanted to create a POSITIVE SPACE where the ENERGY of BLACK ALUMNI could mix and mingle. Coming together to celebrate our accomplishments. Socialize, dance, drink, laugh, and fellowship with old friends while meeting new ones. More importantly, don’t forget to network and co-create/collaborate in black excellence, partnering with one another. Let’s unite and excel in our presence not only in our local communities, but across the nation, together as one.

Have we paid attention to the latest trends of successors from our ethnicity? Do we know how they got there? Well besides determination and insane work ethic, they had mutual collaborations and home team support. Let’s not subscribe to the “crab in a bucket” mentality. Do not allow “their” stereotype to define us. We are all we got. We are in a league of our own.

Let’s unify through black collaboration, black teamwork, black support, black business, black, partnerships, black dollars, and black presence. Put on for the culture.
